It’s that time of year again where we tape up the tables and measure some angles…not angels!

Excitement filled the air as we stepped into the workshop, ready to explore Kori Purakau, where stories come alive, through dance and movement. The dancers from Atamira Dance Company showed us how Maori legends can be shared without words, using only gestures, expressions, and body movements.
We began with fun warm up activities that stretched our muscles and got us moving like characters in the stories. Then, in big groups, we created short dances, acting out adventures, emotions and moments from the legends. Watching everyone’s ideas come to life was amazing, some dances were lively and energetic, while others were funny, and exciting.
The highlight for me was performing our dances and seeing how movements could tell a story as powerfully as words. The workshop taught me that dance is more than steps, it’s a way to share culture, express ideas, and connect with others. It was inspiring, creative and so much fun! By Graziel.

First day of Tech for 2026 and a new teacher too! Yr 8’s had a wonderful morning with Mr Ward cooking a variety of eggs. We had boiled, fried, scrambled and even poached! I over heard…”he’s the best teacher!”
My job is done; nothing better than happy kids!

Many thanks to our wonderful presenters who spoke with clarity and humour introducing this years movie at the Film Festival.
Do you ever feel like sometimes people just aren’t listening to you? Or do you find yourself not listening to your friends or whanau? Our movie is a reminder to take time to speak and listen so we can build strong relationships with our loved ones.

Katnisse’s interpretation of the Matariki Star cluster.
This year Rm 8 once again shared Jesus’ walk through the last day of his life, with the whole school. It was a moving performance allowing us to commemorate the suffering he went through. Suffering beyond what any man should endure. His death was a demonstration of God’s love, a victory over death and the powers of evil, and an example of self-sacrifice.
Zac (from Tinā) and Anna came to St Pats to film us reporting. A fun morning with Zac singing and dancing a song from the movie. Wow!! He was great!
